Your mission: Find out what plants need to thrive.

In class today, you were given three lima bean plants in styrofoam cups. These plants have all been given the same amount of water, light and nutrients since being planted. Now, your job is to find out how much water these plants need to stay green and healthy. In order to do this, you will be working in groups of four. Each person will be responsible for watering their plants and maintaining one "control group" plant. We will be making observations about these plants using the five senses, and based on this, each group will come to a conclusion about the best amount of water to give to these plants.

In this project, concentrate on:

1. Using your observation skills. Compare and contrast, and don't forget to think critically!
2. Being responsible. Your group is counting on you to make a good contribution. Don't let them down, and remember to water your plants! If you will be out of town, remember to make arrangements for your plants!
3. Have fun!
